RANBAXY GAINS APPROVAL TO MARKET RANTM-ROPINIROLE TABLETS IN CANADA

Toronto, Canada – July 29, 2009 Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Canada Inc. (RPCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited (RLL), announced today that RLL has received approval in Canada to manufacture and market RanTM-Ropinirole 0.25 mg, 1.0 mg, 2.0 mg, and 5.0 mg tablets (Ropinirole Hydrochloride) from Health Canada, Therapeutic Products Directorate (TPD). Total generic market size of Ropinirole Hydrochloride tablets in Canada is $4.8 million ($CAD) [IMS-CDH: July 2008]. RanTM-Ropinirole tablets are indicated for use as an anti-parkinsonian agent and dopamine agonist. “We look forward to marketing this organically developed product in all strengths that will be commercialized at an affordable price that will be beneficial to both the Canadian healthcare system, and most importantly, to Canadian patients. RanTM-Simvastatin represents the second approval granted to RPCI in July that will further expand the depth and breadth of our product portfolio of molecules that have clinical utility and value.
